OUR IMPACT

Write It Out! creates an affirming and healing space that supports individuals from diverse racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, immigration statuses, and abilities living with HIV and AIDS. We take a trauma-sensitive approach to empower the Poz community by offering artistic tools to transform the personal experiences of pain, stigma, and resilience of living with HIV and AIDS into powerful narratives through playwriting.

2021 WIO! Prize Recipient

Dominic Colón

“I thought the prize for being named the winner of the inaugural recipient of the Write It Out! prize was going to be the stipend, but the real prize ended up being freedom. After receiving the prize, coming out publicly about my HIV status not only liberated me as an artist but as a spirit on this earth.”
